Chic, stylish and modern summer wedding ideas

Hawkes Bay wedding planner and florist KRISTOPHER & CO. brought the outdoors in with this 'summer in a studio' shoot with colourful, vibrant florals and a wedding gown by ANNIKA BRIDAL with a modern silhouette. ABIGAIL BERGE PHOTOGRAPHY captured these beautiful images. 

Alice from KRISTOPHER & CO. tells us, "I always associate summer with being outside. A New Zealand summer is fresh fruit in stalls on the side of the road, swimming in the ocean every weekend and the smell of garden roses everywhere you walk. This summer inspired shoot is nothing of the kind; based in a studio in Minnesota, thousands of miles from the ocean, the weekend after 4ft of snow! So we created our own version of summer, a little taster of the vitamin D to come. I absolutely adore the freshness of the colour, the crisp seasonal whites and the natural light streaming through the warehouse windows of STUDIO APPARATUS. 

I often associate the modern romantic with minimalism. It's not always that - often it's an approach to romanticism that is slightly more realistic - without the frills, without the sugar. The dress from ANNIKA BRIDAL was the sun for me - everything revolved around it. This stunning gown by Pronovias flowed beautifully, nothing being over done, nothing stunting it's beauty. It was the perfect example of modern romanticism - everything else came from there. 

Orange, pink and yellow is not a colour palette you will often be asked for. Yet it sort of empowered this shoot. The florals were bright and bold - two words I usually abhor, and yet in this setting they were fresh, funky and flirty. They told the story of the modern woman: they spoke for themselves."
