I'm excited to share the first of our features from Issue 16 of MAGNOLIA ROUGE MAGAZINE with you today! This utterly stunning shoot by REBECCA YALE, styled by SCENT OF ORCHID epitomises the old-world glamour and mystic that we all love about Europe. Inspired by the romance of the floating city itself, this Venetian elopement editorial harks back to La Serenissima's heyday. The city is famous for its gondolas, canals, Casanova and of course masquerade balls. Inspired by the Baroque paintings that covered the Hall of Music in the CA'SAGREDO Hotel this palette was carried throughout the shoot with black and gold as the dominant colours with deep pops of red. Venetians are also known for their glasswork and lace, which are made on the islands of Murano and Burano right off of Venice's shore. The black lace CLAIRE PETTIBONE dress set the tone for the dark romance of the day, which was echoed in the lace runner on the ballroom table. WRITTEN WORD CALLIGRAPHY created an stationery suite featuring a folded invitation that opened like a letter and hearkened back to the love letters that Casanova would write to his lovers while imprisoned in the city. A single red rose bud was placed on the four guests' plates, next to the love letter-like menu, along with a miniature mask, much like the one the bride wore during portraits. You can just imagine the couple would enjoy a romantic and intimate meal followed by a masquerade ball full of music and dancing, and then a gondola ride through the Venetian canals.
