We are Origami

Sydney Photographer

We are wedding, portrait and editorial photographers, based in Sydney Australia. We both share a dear passion for film + digital photography and approach all our weddings and portrait sessions in an honest, fun and unique way that combines documentary and fine art styles. Some people call us hybrid photographers.

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… together with my wife fulfilling our creative desires, planning exciting new places to go, treasuring life’s simple moments, and just enjoying being in each other’s company. Or brunch and a movie would be just fine.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… Kyoto, Japan. It’s where I travelled to on my first overseas trip. And it also happened to be where I proposed to the love of my life. This place holds so many special memories to us.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Japan. Even though we have been back here so many times, we can never get enough of it!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… making new friends! We just LOVE people. And of course capturing pretty images in the process!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… I was a financial planning coach prior to this life and I actually loved it. Being able to coach others in getting their financial well-being in place was just something I really enjoyed doing. I just happened to come across a camera during this time and figure that I loved capturing photos even more!

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… take it easy and don’t freak out about all the little details on your big day. Pick the right team and let them worry about the little details. The day passes by so quickly that you should just focus on living in the moment and have the most awesome time with all your love ones.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… the people, the coffee, the food, the fresh air, the culture, the quality of life, the everything…

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… by this point, the answer should be pretty obvious right? Even though Kyoto is where all our favourite moments transpired, Takayama would be the place I would love to live in. It’s amazingly beautiful, peaceful and full of amazing history! Plus bike riding through a field of rice paddock is a nice way to wind down before having a mug of sake. But you know what, Australia is ALWAYS home to me and there’s just no better place. Our coffees rule ALL.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? I’m a massive movie buff… but I have to say James Cameron Aliens is something I can watch over and over again.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… this Japanese joint in Sydney that made the best and freshest Tuna Belly. Hands down amazing.
