This cultural, fashion-forward wedding editorial at PENHA LONGA RESORT in Sintra, Portugal combined history and culture with modern touches. The monastery at Penha Longa dates back to the 14th century and features a classical Portuguese-style architecture, offering the most romantic setting for this destination wedding inspiration captured by SHALAE BYRD at an AMV RETREAT workshop.

The invitation suite from LAURA ELIZABETH PATRICK was designed with the history and architecture in mind, featuring soft blues and whites, a timeless script font, and a historical Portuguese-style arch. The bride’s dress from NAEEM KHAN featured a lace, embellished design that fit the calming, understated elegance of the venue.

The ceremony was held at the monastery ruins in the heart of the tropical forest, where lush florals surrounded the ruins pond, creating the most alluring setting for our couple's nuptials. Arrangements by SILOH FLORALS adorned the aisle and ceremony space with pops of yellow and white. The reception featured beautifully adorned ceilings in the Salao Nobre with a soft yellow and white palette. The elongated tables cape filled the space, adorned with more florals. The cake by EDELWEISS featured a soft blue colour and curved details to match the history, colours, and architecture of the location. After the ceremony, the real couple Dani & Cynthia enjoyed a peaceful moment in the open air courtyard of the monastery where there was a lounge set up amidst the colourful, blue frescoed walls of the space.
