We think it's important to build a relationship with your wedding vendors... in particular your photographer who will be alongside you for the better part of the most important day of your lives! Dallas wedding photographer KRYSTLE AKIN loves to tell the story of your day and with a decade in the business has the experience to ensure it's done just right! We're spending a few minutes getting to know more about her today!

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER? To be honest, 13 years ago when we married I would not have dreamed to be a wedding photographer. The day was hot, hectic and honestly just a whirlwind. Never did I think that would be my career path. During our first few years of marriage I picked back up the camera after our two children and some health issues came up. Children and Senior photography was always a passion before marriage and I found myself going into that as my main business. I was helping out another local photographer for a year or two second shooting weddings and decided that I could lead. 9 years later here I am. Still photographing whirlwind weddings.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR PATH TO GET THERE: Locally our colleges don't really go into depth in their photography courses. So of course I tried one out. Realising I learned more in high school during class. Second shooting, multiple workshops, trial and error I realised what aesthetic worked for me.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Authentic, bright and timeless. Between just those three words it really does sum up my style of photography and something that I want to stay true to. I love looking back at weddings I photographed years ago and having to wonder exactly how many years it has been.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WEDDINGS? Honestly, I am in LOVE with Grandparents. I am so thankful that my Grandmother was able to be apart of our day before she passed a few years back. She always would talk about even though how hot it was it was a perfect day. That is what all grandparents see wedding days as. Perfect. They don't see the imperfections that a lot of couples might see as their day didn't go according to the timeline or Pinterest board. Grandparents see through what can be called busy and crazy at times and see the perfection in all of it. I adore each one at EVERY wedding.

SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGE WITH US AND TELL US WHY: The day of this wedding (below) was like so many others. Getting ready, details, running from room to room photographing getting ready images and gearing up for the first look. After making sure the groom was finished and ready to go for the first look I came over to the brides room to witness a prayer from each of her bridesmaids and her Mother. She was surrounded with each giving their blessing and heartfelt prayer for a successful marriage. A tear up often at weddings during first dances, walking down the aisle and even toasts. But this moment I for sure had waterworks.

CAN YOU RECALL YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING EXPERIENCE? It would be just a few years back in Tuscany. A client decided to move her wedding to Italy instead of Texas like her original plan. I thought a few family members would join in the week but realised when we arrived in Italy that it was just her, her fiancé and my Husband and I. We became friends in that time as it was a time for me to really get to know them two as a couple and be more apart of the wedding than just the photographer.

ASIDE FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS, THREE THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT? Sweet Tea, My dog Marshall and hot baths!

WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU ON A SUNDAY MORNING? Typically, if I am not traveling you will find me helping out at our church and off to lunch with the family.

HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR IDEAL DAY OFF? Sitting beside the pool watching the kids. Because it seems like yesterday they were just toddlers and blinked to now pre-teens.
