With a passion for romance and connection, Maine wedding photographer DARLING PHOTO focuses on telling the story of your wedding day through soft, thoughtful imagery. As your photographer, Jenn aims to make your experience a beautiful part of the process and make photographs that truly feel like you. Today we're getting to know a little more about the lady behind the lens.

My style is romantic and connected with a blend of moody and light imagery. I try not to fall into one category because I do enjoy playing with light and textures so much - so I hope not to put myself into one group or the other.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER? I think all of my passion stems from my love of connections and romance, really. I’m equally as left brained as I am right brained so I am constantly able to satisfy all of my organisational/business needs while making beautiful images for my clients.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR PATH TO GET THERE. While I was graduating in college in 2007 I purchased my first camera and posted on social media asking people to come model for me. I signed up for a photography class during my final semester and fell in love. Once I graduated I became a social worker through DHHS and in 2010 I quit my job to pursue photography full time. Since then I’ve been able to travel to Ireland, Mexico and many places across America to photograph some really amazing sessions and I couldn’t be prouder that this is where I am.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? My style is romantic and connected with a blend of moody and light imagery. I try not to fall into one category because I do enjoy playing with light and textures so much - so I hope not to put myself into one group or the other.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WEDDINGS? I love that this is a day that my couple is spending with their favourite people. Overall, for me, it’s about capturing the emotion and love that encompasses the WHOLE day and not just surrounding where the couple is at any given moment. I want to tell the story through their details, their emotions AND their guests/moments. I am always looking for connections!

SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGE WITH US AND TELL US WHY. During the ceremony, the bride read vows to her 7 year old step daughter and we all felt it. Probably one of my favourite, most emotional, moments as a wedding photographer.

CAN YOU RECALL YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING EXPERIENCE? I’ve photographed over 150 weddings so this is probably one of the toughest questions I’ve been asked! My favourite moment overall - at EVERY wedding - is the moment they’re finally married and walking through the aisle surrounded by friends/family with so much excitement.

ASIDE FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS, THREE THINGS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Dogs. Traveling. Pasta.

WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU ON A SUNDAY MORNING? Usually Sundays are spent with my family! I’m eating pancakes to cure the wedding hangover from the full wedding day from the day before and also culling images to get a sneak peek to my clients ASAP! I’ll also package my film to prep it for sending it out Monday morning :) Also, watching The Walking Dead. Ha!

HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR IDEAL DAY OFF? Watching romantic comedies, doing something fun with my kids (and husband!), making something yummy for dinner and ending the evening by the fire. I’m pretty simple overall so I think any lazy day off is a good day!
