Cayla and Andrew have loved Colorado for as long as they could remember. So when the opportunity came to move to their dream state, they immediately jumped to relocate... and of course, plan their stunning mountain wedding there as well. Working with Denver wedding planner THE STYLED SOIRÉE their wedding at BLACKSTONE RIVERS RANCH featured all the gorgeous aesthetics of the Colorado landscape, combined with the elegant feel of the perfect wedding day. A stunning floral design by FAIRY TALE FLORAL graced the natural mountain decor of the venue, highlighting the ceremony space and its dashing stone walk way. As guests arrived, they crossed a wooden covered bridge over the creek, inviting them into the ceremony. These beautiful images by Denver wedding photographer AMANDA BERUBE take us on a visual journey of their day.

When hosting a Colorado wedding, you never know what type of weather you might get. For Cayla and Andrew, their wedding day was graced with sun, a dash of rain, hail and even a few sprinkled thunderstorms. Adding a beautiful weather event to the day that only Colorado could provide. After some time in the mountains and the charming downtown district for portraits, the couple whisked away to their first dance, which was a huge success and actually included all of their guests. After a few moments of the couple dancing, they invited all of their guests to the dance floor with them for a huge celebration that went on into the night.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION? When searching for a venue we were looking for a site that offered the outdoor aspect but leaned more towards a classic and elegant feel over a rustic or country style.

HOW DID YOU MEET? We met in the Fall of 2016 through mutual friends in Denver! We were both living in different parts of the country at the time and happened to be visiting these friends of ours the same weekend. The rest is history.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Andrew proposed to me at one of our favourite summer getaways in Maine! It was my birthday when he proposed, so I truly thought the romantic sunset picnic was for my birthday!

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS/ATTIRE: I spent a few months visiting multiple salons looking for the right dress and nothing felt quite like ‘the one’. My mom had recommended this small shop by where I grew up, and after putting off making an appointment I finally gave in. To my surprise the first dress I tried on was “the one!”

DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY ELEMENTS? We had grand plans for some DIY elements, but when it came down to it – we left the making of the special touches to the pros!

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Our wedding flowers were everything we could have hoped for and more. We wanted a timeless look, and our florist blew us away with what she put together. I had gone to our florist with ideas of a floating floral arch in lieu of a traditional altar. I also had visions of greenery wrapped tent poles in the reception area and lush florals cascading off the reception tables. My bouquet was filled with cream coloured ranunculus, roses, peonies and greenery.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: There are so many to choose from, but the floating arch was stunning.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Take care of all the little details well in advance! Whether that’s welcome bags, itineraries, name cards or party favours. These are the items that will sneak up on you!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Dancing the night away with friends and family to our amazing band.

WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? We are very close to our siblings, so having them standing next to us during the ceremony and giving MOH and Best Man speeches were moments we’ll never forget.

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY? Andrew and I planned our entire wedding remotely. We are from Chicago, and we were living there up until a week before the wedding! There were aspects that were hard to plan from afar, but it all came together in the end.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: We went to Paris, Chamonix and Zermatt! We wanted a winter honeymoon where we could ski and explore charming European towns along the way.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? If we could do it over again, I would probably not move the week before our wedding just to give us some more down town before the big day!
