Simple elegance was the look that Erin was after for her wedding to Brett held at the OMNI SCOTTSDALE RESORT & SPA AT MONTELUCIA. Captured by Arizona wedding photographer MELISSA IVY PHOTOGRAPHY it was timeless and elegant celebration.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION? We looked at so many different venues before looking at the Omni. Once we saw the Omni we immediately fell in love with its beauty and the unique Spanish style. It was so different than any of the other venues we looked at. It had a special charm. We just knew that we wanted to get married there. The ceremony backdrop of Camelback Mountain was so gorgeous!

HOW DID YOU MEET? We met while we were in college. We had the same job working at an after school daycare program for grade school children.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: We had just moved to Arizona and we were exploring some of the different tourist attractions. Brett had researched Antelope Canyon and planned a last minute tour. The tour guide knew that Brett was planning to propose. I had brought my nice camera to take pictures and the tour guide offered to take our picture. There were also a lot of professional photographers there. They can book a separate tour just for photographers to get specific shots because it’s such a popular place to take photos. The natural beauty of the space is unreal. The photographers were waiting for our tour group to move along so they could take their pictures and Brett insisted on taking one last photo. I was getting annoyed because we had already taken several photos and I wanted to get out of the way quickly. I turned around and saw Brett down on one knee with the ring. I was so surprised. The moment was so perfect.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS/ATTIRE: I found my dress at a store in Scottsdale, Arizona called Schaffer’s. It was the first dress I tried on! It was so comfortable to wear. Brett got his suit from Indochino.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: We had variations of white flowers with greenery and a few pops of pink as well as some succulents.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: It was really nice having our wedding coordinator, Tasha Miller. We were able to enjoy the day and not worry about anything. Everything went so smoothly!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Try to avoid getting caught up in the small details. You will be asked so many questions about things you didn’t even think about such as how the napkins will be folded? Do you want this type of flower or this type? Will you have a cake topper? Remember the most important part of the day is celebrating the two of you and the love between each other. No one is going to remember what the table setting looked like or what style of chairs they sat in. Make sure you add fun elements that are unique to you guys and will make the day more fun for you both.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our first look was so special. Also after our ceremony and before the reception we finished taking our photos early and had about a half hour to spend together alone. The staff member assisting us brought us snacks and drinks from our cocktail hour to enjoy. It was nice to slow down and take a moment just us to soak it all in.

WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? We just wanted to make sure that everyone had a good time. We wanted good music, good food and drinks, and just finally getting to celebrate with all our family and friends.

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY? My brother filmed parts of our wedding day. One unique thing we did was during the reception he went around and interviewed our guests so we will have a video guestbook to look back on.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: We went to Bora Bora! It was so beautiful! We stayed at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui. Such an amazing experience!

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? No, overall the day went perfectly!

A big thank you to Arizona wedding photographer MELISSA IVY PHOTOGRAPHY for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us. Melissa is a hybrid wedding photographer based out of Scottsdale, Arizona and considers it a privilege to be a part of a couple’s wedding day. "I love that I am able to be a part of the celebration for my couples and am a huge piece in how their wedding will be remembered. I do not take that responsibility lightly. I find beauty in love stories, details, light, and the entire wedding day experience. I use a combination of film and digital cameras as they shine in different areas of the day. I love that I can help my couples not just feel at east in front of the camera, but also genuinely enjoy it!" You can see more of her portfolio here
