Oh how I wish we had gorgeous cotton fields like this here in New Zealand!! They make for such fun wedding shots!! Brushfire Photography sent in this beautiful wedding that took place at The Windmill Winery in Arizona. High school sweethearts Magda and Bryan wanted their wedding to tell their story and for it to be intimate, fun and memorable. They incorporated a milk and cookies bar as a nod to the groom's love of them, and for a bride they had a gelato card. And can we please talk about the cute little attendants!! So precious!
How did you meet? We met on one of our first days of school. I was the girl he threw paper planes at and would giggle at with his friends. It only took me three years to realize all of those paper planes were him flirting and trying to get my attention. He asked me to homecoming our senior year of high school and here we are five years later saying our I do's.
Tell us about your proposal: We had a four day vacation planned to Chicago with another couple. It was Bryan's favorite city and I always wanted to visit. This trip was planned by me for our four year anniversary, so I had no idea he had a surprise coming for me. He asked my family for permission and everyone knew prior to us leaving, I still don't know how they kept it a secret. He proposed at sunrise right on Lake Michigan near the navy pier. The view of the city, lake, and beautiful sunrise, as he went down on one knee was most definitely better then I ever imagined. I am so happy we have pictures of the entire moment so that memory will last forever.
Any DIY/Budget elements? All of the decor was made by me with family and bridal party help. So many times while planning I heard, �I'm sure you can order something like that online� I didn't care how long it took me to make something I was determined to get it done. I really wanted a fabric backdrop behind the sweetheart table (which was hand built), after 20+ trips back and fourth to the fabric store I couldn't be happier with the way this photographed. Tons of trips to garage sales to find furniture pieces I could rip apart and repaint were definitely worth it. Our burlap overlays, we tied and glued thousands of bows onto these just to have that little detail took months to finish but came out great.
Describe your wedding flowers: Beautiful. I loved all of our bouquets and boutonnieres. Most of the flowers I picked out with our florist were what most people consider weeds, they went really well with the theme and feel of the wedding. I didn't want the flowers to be overbearing we used a lot of baby's breath, blue thistle, succulents, cotton, and billy balls.
Most memorable moment? The First look! I could replay this memory in head over and over again. I was feeling anxious a few hours before the wedding, as soon and I saw Bryan everything went away it was the perfect moment. I know a lot of couples are against doing a first look but I advise everyone to reconsider you won't regret it.
