What better way to start off a new week than with this gorgeous bridal editorial by CALLIE MANION PHOTOGRAPHY. Inspired by the grace and timelessness that ballet offers, Callie created this shoot around the concept of capturing movement and showcasing the poise that dancers possess. “I wanted to create an inspiration shoot all about movement. I am captivated by the way film can capture fluidity and movement. I also love the way a beautiful dress can look like liquid when in motion. My ballerina model made me swoon as she danced around me while I captured each exposure. I chose a gorgeous Gossamer vintage dress with a simple silhouette and plenty of room to move. The various layers of silk perfectly showed the model in motion as she twirled and danced.
Sticking to a simple and mostly neutral colour palette, little touches of gold were added to compliment the pale pink of the dancers pointe shoes. Beautiful florals by POPPIES & PEONIES added the perfect touch of fresh greenery to the otherwise very feminine feel. KISS & MAKEUP created a fresh and young look for her make-up, with the hair up being a nod to the classic ballet looks of old. By incorporating a looser braided crown the look was updated to be a little more modern.
Callie says, “I captured the bride as I imagine her to be on her wedding day: poised and graceful. She sits at the wedding table with her toes on pointe, and dances at any chance she gets. I love the portraits of her in front of the bright windows with the beautiful greenery for a lighter, more energetic feeling. To me, this symbolizes the excitement of the wedding day. To create a contrasting story, I then captured more bridal portraits against the blue stone wall, surrounded by lit candles for a more moodier and solemn feeling. This symbolizes the winding down of the wedding day with a bit more serious tone.”
