I think getting married in a castle will always go down as one of the most romantic venue options and Nikki & Doug's destination wedding captured by SHAUNA VEASEY PHOTOGRAPHY really is straight out of a fairytale book!

Taking place at FORTER CASTLE in Perthshire, Scotland it was a three day event held over last summer. Sticking with the Scottish tradition, Doug wore his family's plaid tartan which included shades of blue - this set the inspiration for the colour palette of the wedding. Highlighting the beautiful landscape in Perth, the couple chose to stick with shades of green, blue and white to tell their wedding story. The 16th century stone tower house surrounded by green and craggy Scottish mountains with sheep quietly grazing in the distance made the most magical backdrop for Niki and Doug's wedding.

The beautiful bride shares with us: "As we were planning our special day we knew we wanted an ethereal and intimate vibe for our wedding. We wanted to do something magical, and different - give our guests an experience while we celebrated marriage. Forter Castle in Perthshire, Scotland was a fairytale venue. As soon as we laid eyes on it we knew it would be the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. When choosing a location, the Highlands fit perfectly into our Scottish heritage. Keeping the wedding small and intimate, we were able to focus on the little details that really spoke to who we are as a couple, and as individuals. I (Nicole) am a Veterinarian so it was very important to include animals on our wedding day. "Robbie," a Connemara horse imported from Ireland joined Doug and I for portraits. He was a charmer, and the perfect accessory for a fairytale wedding at a castle. Doug is a musician and music teacher so we put a lot of emphasis on music, giving our guests a Traditional Scottish experience. We included a bagpipe player, traditional Scottish band (made up of an accordion, guitar and ukulele) and a fiddler. It was surreal, a celebration we will never forget!"
