We love to see weddings where it's not just about the couple getting married, but also about the families involvement. For Georgia and Jon, their mountain wedding in West Glacier, Montana, was truly a family affair with the bride's father marrying them, her Mum and sister doing readings, and the groom's sister also had an important role. With a small group of 12 in total, it meant they were able to spend time together in the days leading up to the wedding as well as time afterwards. The ever lovely Samantha & Reid (seriously they are the sweetest couple!) from ORANGE PHOTOGRAPHIE were there to document all the beautiful moments and have done such a beautiful job of it!

Georgia had this to say about their day, Our inspiration was the outdoors along with adding in special touches unique to our relationship to help tell the story of 'us' through the ceremony and reception. Jon and I had spent many weekends in Montana and had so many special memories there. When we decided to have a very small intimate wedding, we started looking at mountain locations. The John Muir quote "The mountains are calling and I must go" resonated with us and helped shape our wedding day. We both fell in love with the venue, we had been in the area before for hiking and rafting, but never for a wedding. The serene backdrop of the mountains complimented the calm feeling we felt at the venue.

We met a number of years ago on a blind date. I (Georgia) worked with a lady that knew Jon through her husband (Jon worked with her husband) and she set us up on a blind date. I had never been on a blind date and was quite nervous, so I brought a couple friends to the movie theatre. They sat behind us a few rows and Jon never knew until recently! After 3 dates, we didn't exactly mesh and I ended up moving to Pennsylvania. Thoughts of Jon lingered in my mind and almost a year after moving, we reconnected and have been together ever since. We weathered years of long distance which was all worth it! After many miles logged on the road and in the air, we both landed in Calgary, AB with a few detours along the way.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I had an idea of the type of dress I wanted and I searched out stores that carried simple silhouette style dresses. My parents have a place in Columbia Falls, MT, so my mom and I drove to Montana from Calgary one weekend in April. The first day we visited a gorgeous bridal salon in Whitefish and I tried on many dresses. I was torn between so many and we were on a tight deadline, so my mom suggested I think about it overnight. The next day, we drove to Missoula to visit another beautiful store, Velvet Bride. The gowns were gorgeous and I knew I would have a tough time deciding on just one gown. I tried on Nicole Miller dresses and fell in love with the fourth gown. It was perfect for the setting, simple, elegant, yet with an unexpected flair in the back of the gown. The subtle lace detailing was perfect for the romantic feeling we were going for. I knew it was the dress for me and we ordered it that day, crossing our fingers it would be in on time. My mom and I celebrated in Missoula before heading home. It was a picture-perfect day!

ANY DIY ELEMENTS? Jon dabbles in graphic design and he created two graphics we used in the wedding. We have a tradition of tandem biking around one of the rivers in Calgary, so he designed a tandem bike with our initials in the frame that we used on tea towels that were given as wedding favours. We also made welcome bags for each guest, Jon created a map of Montana with an evergreen tree and heart base where West Glacier is with our names and date of the wedding. We filled the bags with local goods, each bag had contents that were unique to the individual to help make them feel at home. I made the ring bearer pillows that my nephews carried and my mom made a sign "last chance to run" that another nephew carried. We carried the same graphics onto notepads that were in the welcome bags.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: The flowers were breathtaking. My bridal bouquet was all white peonies tied with an elegant cream ribbon. They were so fragrant! Jon had a ranunculus boutonni re in creamy white, bound with a charcoal grey ribbon. There was an arrangement of peonies and other flowers that emulated peonies hanging from a chandelier in the reception tent. Along the middle of the reception table was a long greenery runner that had peonies and ranunculus in shades of white, cream, and coral entwined with the beautiful lush greens. The same greenery and flowers framed the bar table and decorated the basket of the cutest tandem bike!

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: There were so many, it's hard to pinpoint just one! I think there are two details that really stand out, seeing the vintage tandem bike with the 'Just Married' sign attached with beautiful flowers, that was a total surprise to both of us and really added a nice touch that helped tell our story. The individual wedding cakes were so amazing. My nephews were so eager for the wedding to happen because it meant they got to eat cake. I shared that with our wedding planner and Kelsey managed to find a bakery that made the most gorgeous and most delicious cakes! It was so nice that every individual got the flavour they like. Seeing my nephews react to the cakes was priceless! I'm surprised they finished their meal before digging in!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Don't forget about each other and what the outcome of the wedding is. We found it was easy to get caught up in so many details, family dynamics, the scheduling of it all and was easy to lose sight of what the outcome was. We took a step back, downsized our plan, and focused on what we wanted knowing that all we wanted to do was be together forever. Once we focused on the marriage and 'ever after' part, planning went so much smoother. Also remember to continue to have date night during the planning process! It helps to talk about something other than the wedding for a night and focus on continuing to foster your relationship.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Again, so many moments! One moment that really stood out was hearing the string trio play in the background as I made my way up the hill to meet Jon before the ceremony for our 'reveal' pictures. The moment because even more touching hearing the soft melodies travel into the woods. Seeing Jon's face as we saw each other for the first time as soon-to-be husband and wife is a moment that will stay near to my heart forever. The whole day felt like a dream and was so smooth. Saying our vows to each other in front of those that mean so much to us was incredibly meaningful.
