Anna & Dave paid homage to the past when it came to the inspiration for their small town New Zealand wedding. The Victorian era and her Grandmother's wedding were just a couple of the reference points Anna used when it came to styling the reception. The very first wedding held in the church they were married in (which is on the grounds of a Marae opposite the house the bride grew up in) happened over Easter as their's did and the bride's bouquet had been preserved for close to 100 years in a glass case. It was this detail that inspired florist ANNA to display some flowers in the same way, and to have flowers in resin paperweights for their guests.

After spending the morning getting ready in the beautiful Tongariro Chateau, the celebrations then continued in the quaint country town of Kakahi in the central North Island. The style of our wedding drew inspiration from the simplicity of weddings held in my Grandma's years; a small gathering, local foods ie. smoked trout, walnut cheesecake (all beautifully made by my husbands mother), simple table settings, banquet style dining, Victorian inspired florals & stationary and of course, a modest gown. Thanks to KATE GREWAL for her beautiful images of the day.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Dave took me away for a surprise romantic weekend to the Tongariro Chateau. After failing to propose in an mountain airplane or on top of the mountain (due to the weather closing in), he proposed under the beautiful big chandelier in the ball room of the Chateau.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DRESS: I knew I wanted a Victorian boho style gown. The Chloe dress was the first dress I saw after I got engaged and I loved it.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Our wedding flowers were inspired by the Victorian artwork I chose for our invitations. Each arrangement was full of cottage garden blooms. No specific colour theme was focused on, I wanted to create a painterly' visual.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Standing outside the church while the bell rang holding Dad's hand.
