Katherine and Adam Nowak were clearly destined to meet - they'd had a series of near misses over the years, including a party Katherine threw that Adam attended! But it wasn't until both had moved to New York that the timing was right and the grand introduction was made. One snowy night, after a few blissful years together, Adam proposed in Washington Square Park, and the two city dwellers started planning a country wedding in Wyoming. Inspired by the incredible natural beauty of the location, with its aspen trees, green fields and majestic mountains, they opted for a rustic, elegant style that felt sophisticated, yet natural and who better to document it than CARRIE PATTERSON who knows this area so well. Florist Sarah Jane of LILY & CO. created wandering floral displays across the wooden tables, with topiaries, kumquats and terracotta pots. The focal points of Katherine's bouquet were peonies and garden roses, treasured favourites of her late mother. Another family touch was the inclusion of a tradition to honour Adam's Polish heritage, where the couple's parents presented them with a loaf of bread to symbolise always having food on the table, and salt, that they will always enjoy the spice of life.
"We knew in our hearts if anything didn't go quite as planned it was because of something we literally could not control. That mentality allowed us to truly enjoy the weekend and not worry about the details. It was all about the love we felt and the fun we had together and with our friends and family.
Our ceremony was incredibly special to us. We laughed, we cried, we felt my mom's presence through a rather loud breeze in the aspen grove, one of my best friends sang 'Make You Feel My Love', and most important: we got married!"
