Kayla & Aaron blended rustic elegance with some more ethereal elements for their Washington mountain wedding captured by Seattle wedding photographer BLUE ROSE PICTURES. "We wanted a soft, simple colour palette that worked well in the setting for both the venue and the ceremony". The couple were after a relaxed and casual environment for their guests and felt that the beautiful barn, stables, horses, and lush green landscape of RITTER FARMS with the stunning mountain backdrop for their ceremony was a perfect mix. Additionally, the area had a lot to offer their out of town guests who hadn't been to the greater Seattle area before.

HOW DID YOU MEET? We were introduced by mutual friends after Aaron moved from Texas to Washington State for a job opportunity.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Aaron conspired with Kayla’s sister, Amy, to propose on a day in which they were celebrating the 40th wedding anniversary of Kayla’s parents. Both Aaron and Amy felt it would be the perfect time to distract Kayla from the possible proposal. Before their dinner reservation in Seattle, Aaron took Kayla for a walk along the waterfront in sculpture park where he got down on one knee.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: My first day shopping for a gown was with three of my bridesmaids and mom. I tried on a beautiful mermaid style lace dress with a blush underlay that was part of a trunk show. After that day, the dress was shipped back to the warehouse and I was unable to see it or try it on again. So I went shopping twice more, and continued to think of that special dress. Luckily, The Wedding Bell was able to track down the dress and order it so I could try it on again before making my final decision. I took the dress home from the store the day after it arrived!

DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY ELEMENTS? We created the invitations as well as signs used on the day of the event.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: A mixture of blush and cream florals accented with greenery. I wanted something very classic and simple to compliment the dress rather than take away from it.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: I don’t think I can pick just one detail. Overall, the way the old dairy barn was transformed into an elegant space for dinner and dancing was amazing. So many small details came together to make a big impact that was everything I had envisioned and more.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Make sure to take a moment during the reception to be together just the two of you. Look around at the love and joy surrounding you. We will not remember all the details that took months to plan, but that moment together as newlyweds is a moment we will never forget from our wedding day.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Walking down the aisle with the support of my family and friends to meet the man I’ve waited my whole life to meet, and the man who will be my best friend for the rest of the life we have left to live.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: We celebrated our honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii.
