It's hard not to love the scent of lilacs in bloom... it's rather a nostalgic fragrance and it was this that was the springboard for this shoot by KAYLA YESTAL. It was the first building block for what turned into a stunningly beautiful, delicate, and feminine spring styled shoot.
Kayla explains, "For the bride, we styled her in a lace dress full of incredible texture from EMMY MAE BRIDAL that was both a show-stopping focal point on its own, and a soft backdrop for our bouquet created by FOREVER WILDFIELD. The florals brought in a colour palette pulled directly from a full spring garden. A simplistic hair and makeup look along with a gentle silk veil from NOON ON THE MOON accentuated this look and brought everything together.
Our couple were newlyweds who tied the knot in the Summer of 2017 and had just welcomed a brand new puppy into their family! One of my absolute favourite things about photographing this inspirational shoot is that it became far more about them reminiscing on their own wedding day and their first year of marriage than just acting as a portfolio piece. On top of that, their little chocolate lab, Eddie, completely stole the show while he spent the entire evening running around in the open fields of SCOTSDALE FARM on his first real trip outside of the city!
This shoot was definitely brought to life by all of the stationery details that FLOURISH CALLIGRAPHY designed for the day. In particular, the stunning menus that were printed on a beautiful muted oatmeal linen and became our favourite aspect of the tablescape. Placed underneath subtle blush and gold table elements from SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL DECOR, they added a necessary organic element that brought us full circle to our original inspiration source."
