Southern girl at heart. Momma to the most perfect girl. Obsessed with my Goldendoodle. Always looking for a way to make it back to the sea. Taco Tuesday, everyday.

My name is Abigail, and I am so thrilled you are here. I am a film & digital photographer, and there is nothing I cherish more than capturing the love that happens all around us. My favourite moments happen during the in-between — the breath right before a bride puts on her wedding gown; a groom sneaking a peek at his almost-bride during the prayer; the embrace of a mother that knows this day is happening much too quickly. I want you to feel that every moment captured on your wedding day is authentic, full of emotion, and timeless.

Photography, for me, means capturing all of your life. It will not always be perfectly posed. It will not always mean that everyone is looking at the camera. However, it will mean that 10 years from now, when that groom is a new dad, or that bride is showing her little girl the great-grandmother she never got to know, those memories will still be tangible. And real. And messy. And beautiful.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… on the beach with my babe and husband… and camera, of course!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… going to California a few years ago. I have always heard of this magical California light, and I didn’t quite believe it until it appeared in front of me. We shot on the beach, in the middle of the day, and those images are some of my favourites I have ever taken to-date (thanks, film!).

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Greece. I have wanted to visit since I saw it in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. That’s right… pants inspired my love for travel.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… connecting with my clients. I am 100% relationship-driven, so I always feel incredibly honoured when a couple or family chooses me to capture the biggest moments in their lives. I am always sad to see the wedding day come and go!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… a sports journalist. That was my original goal, until I picked up a camera!

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… take a deep breath and enjoy this phase. I remember when I was engaged, it was such an awkward “in-between” phase of not single and not married. However, I wish that I had enjoyed the moments before saying yes to forever, because it is such a sweet season. Don’t forget-it’s about the marriage more than the wedding.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I can breathe. I know that sounds a little corny, but as soon as I see a rolling hill, or a field covered with tall, sweeping grass, I feel like I am home. There have been so many evenings that our photography session ends with a chorus of cicadas singing us home, and there truly is nothing like a southern sunset.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… on a farm with goats and chickens, or in a quiet little beach town.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Oh man this one is tough because I absolutely love movies. If we are going solely based off of the number of times I have actually watched said movie, it would have to be Dirty Dancing.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… A family-style meal in Italy. I went on a mission trip in high school and we did some volunteer work for a church… after, we ate so much we had to cancel our evening outreach and we all took a nap. It was the most delicious food I have ever eaten, and I dream of going back to Italy regularly.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… a sweet Goldendoodle named Charlie!
