Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… All days off typically include some sort of outdoor activity! I'm lucky enough to call Breckenridge, Colorado home, which is smack dab in the middle of the Colorado Rockies with beautiful mountains to explore in every direction. I usually start with my favorite local breakfast joint (to include mimosas), take a mini road trip to explore a new town, river, forest, or mountain, and maybe hike a little, maybe fish a little, maybe bike a little, then camp out somewhere beautiful. Talk about "the life", right?! I'm one lucky gal!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… One of my favorite moments abroad would have to be waking up on New Year's Day in Uganda; some friends and I rented this adorable little bungalow right on The Nile River. We all woke up and had some quiet time alone, which for me was spent swinging in a hammock on the porch surrounded by mama monkeys & their babies. I remember it being the perfectly "dewey" kind of calm morning, birds chirping, looking out over the river with the fisherman in their little wooden boats while sipping on some coffee and spending time with my journal. It was one of those moments you feel perfectly refreshed and inspired in, beautifully indicative of the new year I was about to journey through.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… right now I am utterly obsessed with wanting to do the Everest Base Camp trek, so Nepal is high on my list!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… You could probably see this coming, but what I love most about my job is that it gives me the ability to travel the world and spend time with HAPPY people! I mean, what a blessing! I get to be with people on the happiest day of their lives, and oftentimes in some of the most beautiful scenery known to man. I don't think I could imagine a more gratitude-filled environment.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… I would probably continue my humanitarian photography as a means to continue traveling and helping others around the world. I am wildly passionate about social justice, ethical and sustainable production, animal welfare and about a million other things; there's enough passion in this body of mine to fuel about 10 other full-time careers, who knows what kind of trouble I could get into!

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… To hire a wedding planner! Somewhat selfishly, because in truth they help a photographer's day run much smoother while keeping the wedding party and family on time, avoiding disasters, being prepared for nearly every possible outcome of weather/ timeline/ vendor mishaps etc. Basically they are the Fairy GodMothers of the wedding world and I cannot stress enough how much they will help! Have you ever had that friend that absolutely hated wedding planning and couldn't wait for it to be over? I believe so much of that disdain for the wedding process can be eased when you hire a wedding planner and trust in them to do the small, monotonous details that seemingly consume a bride-to-be's life.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Oh man...have I not bragged enough about my little mountain town? Skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, rafting, biking, kayaking, and climbing are just a few of the things I get to walk out of my front door and do everyday. Not to mention, it's beauty is pretty much unparalleled! We are just far enough from the city to be disconnected from the hustle and bustle of it, yet have such a wonderful little community out here; it truly is a magical little bubble filled with like-minded friendly faces, a slower pace of life, healthy lifestyles with an emphasis on getting outside, tons of wildlife and an endless amount of breathtaking scenery....I win!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… Honestly, where I live right now! I found my happy place and I'm sticking to it. Other places that have given me the same “I’m home” feeling include Florence, Italy, New York City, the Scotland highlands, and Uganda.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Oh, gosh. I am a total nerd and love all of the Harry Potters, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Avengers and superhero movie types. I pride myself on being a creative person drawn to artistic cinematography, architecture, well designed sets, etc...But I can’t deny this sci-fi lovin’ heart.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… How can one decide this? I spent 6 weeks traveling through Europe and I don't think I could ever sum it up into one favorite meal. The pastas and pizzas of Italy, Paella of Spain, deliciously light seafood in Greece, fondue in Switzerland... There's just no way! I will not discriminate. All food is created equal.

THE PETS I OWN ARE…I have two sweet adopted black cats whom I love as if they were my actual children, Bear and Rocky. They are perfect little angel babies except when they leave dead mice, birds, chipmunks and other adorable creatures on our front door step and the doorstep of our neighbors...yikes!
