Hi, I'm Ha.

Truth be told, I wasn’t always in love with flowers. It was only when planning my own wedding that I realised the beauty of a flower can be found on a much more personal level, putting more thought and feeling into the flowers and translating emotions.

I believe in a different style of floral design. To create a community with the shared belief that weddings can be artistic and elegant, yet still have the space to invite simplicity and a sense of stillness.

Idyll stands for simplicity, peace and presence.

It sums up all that I feel when I am creating with flowers. I am the most authentic version of myself, not thinking, just feeling, immersed in the moment creating with my hands and my heart.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… I would be spending it with my family, taking my son out to the Sydney Opera House, chasing the birds and eating ice cream with him. I just love watching him having fun (I mean, who wouldn’t right?).

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… my first ever trip overseas to Singapore. Seeing the country that has always been praised for their cleanliness was an eye opening experience. Their Botanical Gardens were also very impressive.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… definitely France.

I studied French for 11 years - since the age of 6 - and during my entire childhood France was always where I wanted to go and study abroad after finishing high school. But plans change, and I ended up in Sydney, Australia, where I’ve spent the last 11 years and I’m so lucky to call it my second home now. Next time we get to travel as a family of 3, it would definitely be France.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… getting to work with beautiful blooms in all different shapes and sizes and colours is just magical. And being able to call it a career is an absolute privilege. I get to work with my hands, my eyes, and my heart; creating beauty for my client’s most important day in their life and having my work appear in their wedding photos so they can look at them again and again years later, is truly meaningful. It’s a bit crazy to think that I get to be part of someone’s life, for a long time.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… a hotel manager. Before my life with flowers, I was a successful Reservations Manager climbing the corporate ladder in the 5 star hotel industry. Although I got a lot of success in my role, the industry working culture wasn’t supportive for the life I want to have with my young family. I was burned out and had no time for my newborn son.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…to give yourself enough time for wedding planning. Take your time, and don’t stress. The point being, if you have a year to plan something you will be, firstly, less stressed, and secondly, able to do it better because you have more time to research and make the right decision. So don’t rush. Enjoy your time as a newly engaged couple, keep your mind open for trends and inspiration, and approach wedding planning with grace. Do it slowly and intentionally. This way your ideas and vision will gradually come together and you will have the most beautiful wedding that you DERSERVE.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… It’s been mentioned publicly that Australia is one of the BEST countries to live. And I agree, I am so grateful to call Australia my second home. It’s got everything from beautiful mountains to amazing white sand beaches. Its citizens are friendly and open minded. They welcomed me with an open arms and I love them so much.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… It’s hard to choose. But it would be somewhere in the EU. I love their floral farms, and there are so many great floral designers I would love to meet up with and learn from.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Home Alone – I know it’s so childish, but isn’t it such a happy movie? Love Actually is the runner up!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… Hmmm, my son? hahaaa he’s a cheeky little monkey.
