Kimberly Hidore

New York Photographer & Philadelphia Photographer

I’m Kimberly, a Philadelphia based wedding photographer. I love capturing weddings on the East Coast and internationally. I fell in love with photography when I was just 12 years old, learning to shoot on film and develop my own images in a dark room. I have loved visual storytelling ever since, and it has been one of my life’s greatest joys to work as an artist and business owner to tell love stories. I specialise in capturing ethereal joy drenched in beautiful light, and effortless images that depict the nuances of human emotion and pure connection. I live for the expression of human emotion—the tiniest touch of a hand, wiping tears from a lover’s cheek, and the joy that radiates from my couples’ eyes as they promise forever to each other.

My style is romantic and editorial, through a combination of documenting authentic moments and providing art direction for flawless images that capture the emotion of the moment. I have been traveling for my whole life, beginning with living abroad in childhood, and I am delighted to tell love stories in magnificent places that mean so much to my clients. My goal is to create space for my clients to be themselves and remain fully present on their wedding days.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… a free Sunday would ideally be spent starting in a hot yoga class, followed by a delicious brunch!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… this is too difficult to choose just one. I have camped in Namibia, been on safari in South Africa, and hiked a glacier in New Zealand. But a definite favorite was for our 10th anniversary, my husband and I traveled to Bora Bora. I have never seen anything like it in my life—without a doubt the most beautiful place I have ever been. We stayed in an overwater bungalow and woke up to the sun rising over the turquoise water every morning. We swam with sharks and sting rays, paddle boarded through the reefs, and jet skied with dolphins. It was incredible.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… I have spent my whole life traveling, and I have been to 34 countries so far. I lived abroad for six years in my childhood, and I won’t stop until I’ve seen everywhere. A few new places that are high on my list to see next are: Tanzania, Switzerland, and Norway.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… I love documenting complete and utter joy. I love witnessing joy that overflows to tears, and happiness radiating warmth from a couple committing to forever. I love creating art for a living, and serving my couples by creating space for them to interact with genuine emotion and connection.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… I would encourage couples to plan your wedding in way that feels authentic to you. This is a day to celebrate your love and your future together, so make sure it feels true to you and that you plan to enjoy every second of it. Once the day is planned, remain present and take in every fleeting moment.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I love how close I am to so many beautiful cities. The proximity to Philadelphia, New York City,  and Washington, DC lets me capture love in the hustle and bustle of an energetic city. I love the changing seasons and how a city is never the same from one day to the next.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… I’ve lived all over the world, but if I could live anywhere today it would be Italy. I love Italy—the culture, the food, the language—everything about it.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Definitely You’ve Got Mail. I’m a big fan of love stories, with all of their twists and turns and complications all leading to a happy ending.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… In 2018, we were in a tiny town in Italy called Urbino. It snowed 42 inches in the 5 days we were there, setting all kinds of records for the area. One night, we walked to this lovely trattoria overlooking the medieval walls of the city and ate pumpkin pasta with hazelnuts. Between the view, the food, the company, and the Italian red wine, that dinner will always have a twinkling and warm glow in my memory.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… I have a tiny Maltipoo named Harper. She is 12 years old and has been my itty bitty companion and best friend for over a decade.
