Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… I would probably drive to the beach! I’m really lucky to live only a few hours from the beach, and my grandfather bought a house for our family right across the street from the ocean. It’s always my favourite way to unwind, to go down there with a good book and a bottle of wine for some porch sitting and beach walking!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… there are so many, but I think my absolute favourite memory was traveling to Morocco a few years ago - we stayed at this gorgeous little Riad in Marrakech, and every night dinner was on the roof. Sitting there in the open air, with the call to prayer echoing around the city, a million stars in the sky, and delicious food… one of my all-time favorite memories, and trips.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Egypt! I’ve always wanted to go, ever since I was little - I think ancient Egyptian history is so fascinating, and would love to see all that remains from it. I was actually supposed to go, about ten years ago, but that was right when the revolution broke out, and I ended up in India instead! So it’s been at the top of my list for a while.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… making something both beautiful and meaningful. Capturing beauty on film takes my breath, but when I’m able to add the unique connection or story of those I’m photographing into the beautiful image… there’s no better feeling in the world.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… honestly, I would probably look into being a wedding planner. I’m crazy in love with the wedding industry, and wouldn’t ever want to leave it. I live for lists and schedules, and love planning visually beautiful things. If for some reason the wedding industry didn’t exist, though, I think I’d be a religion professor. I got my degree in religion for that reason - world religions are so fascinating, and teaching is just a constant excuse to learn more.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…cherish this time! Seriously - I meet with so many couples who are either stressing the time away, or wishing the wedding was here tomorrow. Celebrate the process, don’t lose sight of each other and the reason you made this decision in the first place.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… The South is a really magical place, full of history and romance.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… Morocco. I love the warmth, the colours, the smell of spices, and the culture so much. Every time I go, I think about how much I want to buy a place there.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… every single meal I’ve ever eaten in Italy.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… two (very hairy) huskies and a sweet black lab! All three of them love to lay on the floor of my office as I work, they’re the perfect little assistants. I can’t imagine life without them.
