Mallory Dawn Photography

My name is Mallory and I am a  fine art film wedding & portrait photographer based out of Southern California. I absolutely love photographing weddings. It has become my greatest passion in life and I am so thankful for all of the beautiful love stories I get to be a part of.

I began my business in 2012 and started shooting weddings in 2014. Since then I have had the honour of being a part of countless weddings. Being married myself, I know how stressful it can be to plan a wedding and I want to help make your process a little bit easier! I am a film photographer, which means I shoot primarily film. That’s right – old-school medium format film. Once I started shooting film, I never looked back. The colours, textures, and softness that film can produce in an image are breathtaking. I feel like film truly represents my brand and style of photography. In short, film is timeless and that is what I want for my clients.

I pride myself on making my couples feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, so they can truly enjoy their wedding day! I would describe my style as bright, soft, romantic and elegant. I can honestly say that I value the relationships I create with my clients. I only photograph a limited number of weddings each year to ensure my couples receive the best service possible. I am so passionate about what I do and I would be honoured to document your love story.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… relaxing with my husband, our dog Mae and my family! I really value time with the ones closest to me.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… getting to meet and work with so many amazing couples. I also really love the feeling when I deliver my final galleries to my clients. Getting to create beautiful memories that will last forever is so special to me.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… an elementary school teacher. I was actually getting my teaching credential at UC Irvine when I decided to take a leap of faith and become a wedding photographer instead! I still love teaching and sharing knowledge to this day and that has become a huge part of my business.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… to try not to focus on the little things, remember you are marrying your best friend and that is what is most important. Hire a professional team of vendors who will take care of you and trust that it will all come together. Oh, and SOMETHING will go wrong, and that is ok! It poured on my wedding day and being a wedding photographer that was not ideal, but we just went with it and now whenever it rains it reminds me of our special day!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? I am actually not really a movie person! I definitely enjoy TV shows more!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… our yellow lab mix, Mae! She brings us so much joy and we just love her so much!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… when my husband, our dog and I took a road trip up to Seattle. We live in Southern California, so it was quite the drive, but so much fun! We drove up along the California and Oregon coast, which was full of amazing views!
