Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… by sleeping in, eating brunch with friends or family, going to church, and heading to a local park for an evening walk or run.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Greece! I’ve always dreamed of visiting Mykonos and the iconic historical sites.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… The people I get to meet and serve. I am so honoured to capture the intimate and once in a lifetime moments that make up a wedding day. I love love- the love between an engaged or newlywed couple, but also all the love between the family members, bridal party, and guests. Weddings serve as a moment where people reflect on their love and the people that mean the most to them. Each guest is intentionally selected and important to the bride and groom. While I love to focus on the bride and groom, I also like to think about documenting the people and moments on the wedding day that share in this love. I have had many instances throughout my career where the photos I took of family members or guests were the last professional photos taken of these individuals before they passed. While I am a very positive and happy person, I do take my job extremely seriously as I want to truly document all of the love and people present on a wedding day. Creating images that will serve my clients and be treasured as heirlooms for generations is what I love most about my job.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD… probably work in healthcare. I have a degree in science and used to believe I would seek a career in healthcare. I love serving and helping people and know I would enjoy being able to help people on a greater level.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… To be fully present in the season and excitement of engagement. Wedding planning can be stressful, but the season (whether months or years) of engagement flies by so fast. It is easy to get caught up in the details and decisions, but it is important to remember how truly beautiful and rare it is that you have met the love of your life, someone you want to spend your forever with. Take the time continue dating your fiancé, even in the wedding planning process and into marriage.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I live in the city; here, there is never a lack of inspiration. I can walk to multiple parks, trails, and many of Dallas’ finest restaurants. Also, Texas is full of some of the friendliest people you will ever meet!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… In Hawaii. My mom grew up in Hawaii and instilled a deep love for the ocean in the hearts of our family. Growing up, we often visited my grandparents in Hawaii and enjoyed hiking in the mountains in the morning and spending the evenings on the beach. There is something so appealing about island life. I’m not sure I could live in Hawaii forever, but it would be fun to experience for a few years.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Father of the Bride part 1 and 2. I’ve been a long time fan of wedding movies, especially those filmed during the 90s. There is something so timeless and beautiful about the way they filmed movies during this decade. The tented backyard wedding in the Father of the Bride is truly a dream. The love between the bride and her dad has me in tears every time.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… I was once sailing in the British Virgin Islands with some friends. We visited an island of mostly locals and had the most delicious candlelit seafood dinner in an unexpected location. We ordered our food for dinner by noon, and the fishermen went out to catch our meal to cook and prepare for us that evening. We enjoyed the most fresh, beachside dinner while watching the sun set on a remote island in the Caribbean.
