Hey there! I am Justine Carey (Milton) and I am a fine art film photographer. I love sitcoms, sour candies and shoes, specifically Louboutin's! I love that my work allows me to meet new people and capture life long memories. My super cute husband, Alan Carey, is my second shooter, film loader, and assistant. Together we travel all over the world capturing weddings. Between the two of us we’ve been to 32 countries, can get by in 4 languages, and own 43 pairs of shoes (okay, that one’s mostly me). We got married in May of 2017 in the middle of an olive grove in Greece, it was a super small wedding with only our immediate family and it was absolutely perfect. It is an honour to document the love couples share on such an important day.

My style is a mix of fine art and photojournalism. I capture naturally beautiful moments as they happen. I don’t force things, and the results are photographs as unique and beautiful as you are. It is an incredibly humbling job, to be trusted to document couples life long memories, and that is what we focus on most; timeless imagery that will evoke all of the emotions you and your family felt on the day.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… going for brunch and hanging out with my husband, maybe going for a hike or playing some pool or board games.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… probably when we traveled to Greece for our wedding. We saw some of the most incredible places! We love venturing to the less touristy areas, we travelled for a month and it was amazing and so much fun! We also got to spend a few days traveling with both of our families, which made it a really special trip!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… All of them! At the top of my list are Morocco, Russia, and Turkey. Alan really wants to go to Japan so that is somewhere on the list too!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… that every day is different! Even though it’s lots of weddings, the couples and locations all have unique elements that keep me on my toes and keep things interesting.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD… I don’t think I could do anything other than run my own business, after all this time I’m extremely unemployable! But if it was running a different business, I would probably be a furniture designer.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… have the wedding you want to have. Don’t get influenced by family and friends pressuring you to do things a way you don’t want to.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Canada is awesome! It’s clean, the people are generally friendly, you can find just about every type of scenery imaginable here, and most of all because it’s home, it’s where family is.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… I really like Canada, the only thing I would change would be for it to be warmer! I grew up in the Middle East so I am no stranger to moving around, so we’ll see where life takes us!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… I’m not sure about most memorable, but our favourite meal to make together is spinach salad and steak. Alberta beef is the best in the world!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… None, unfortunately! I’ve been asking for a dog since I could talk, it was literally my first word, but I still have never had any pets.
