Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… Starting off with Ashtanga yoga, followed by going out to brunch with my husband and then taking a walk with our pup to close out the morning. I would spend the afternoon gardening, reading, talking on the phone to my sister (because let’s be real, I do that every day), practicing the piano and to finish it off, I would meet up with some friends for a yummy vegetarian dinner at one of my favourite Denver restaurants. I like to keep myself really busy, so this sounds like a super chill Sunday. Best of all, no computer time!!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… I am really interested in going to Russia. I’ve been fascinated by Russian culture and literature for a long time so St. Petersburg is especially high on my travel wish list!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… The ever-changing, continually challenging, and temporal nature of it.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… A musician or an actor. I spent my young creative years in the performing arts and I miss the rush of being on stage sometimes. That, or I would be an antique jewellery dealer as that is one of my other deep personal passions.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… start collecting images you find inspiring, then cull through them discerning common themes or colours that appear throughout. From these, make a simple moodboard to capture the aesthetic of your wedding (no more than 8-10 images). As you get overwhelmed with decisions (and Pinterest/Instagram overload), keep returning to this moodboard as your stylistic compass so keep your vision on track.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… The mountains are full of beauty and possibility (and the skiing is awesome), and the city is bursting with creative people and a lively food and music scene.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… The English countryside! I dream of living in a place where gardening is so prolific and lush (Colorado is terribly dry). I’m a total Anglophile at heart and I find the landscape and architecture of Great Britain to be wonderfully inspiring and refined.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? I don’t really like watching movies more than once or twice but there are a few that I do return to occasionally because I find them aesthetically pleasing: The Darjeeling Limited and Marie Antoinette are high on that list. And in the winter time to be super cozy, we do an annual Harry Potter Marathon, which honestly never gets tiring! I’m a Ravenclaw ;)

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… My husband and I had this magical dinner at a 2 Michelin star restaurant in Tokyo called Daigo. We were served a 15 course traditional Buddhist vegan meal (Shojin Ryori) in a beautiful private room overlooking a small Japanese garden. It was such a wild cultural and culinary experience.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… The most beautiful little brown and white brindle dog named Artemis. She is a mix between a beagle and a Boston Terrier and is totally hilarious.
