Northern California Photographer

I am a fine art wedding photographer. I am also passionate about my editorial and commercial work. I feel each is necessary to my aesthetic and feeds into the other giving me a unique perspective.

My path to finding this form of communication and creation has been an unusual one. I began as a ballerina who studied literature. But when my life took me abroad I found a new voice in photography. I haven’t put my camera aside since and instead find myself searching for new ways to improve and grow within my craft.

Because of my background I am deeply influenced by literature, art, and movement. In literature I find voice to my thoughts and commonality in the human condition. Through art I experience beauty and colour and shape. In dancing I find movement and strength that empower so much of my work. I am constantly searching these mediums for new ways to express beauty through my work with weddings and portraiture.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… snuggling and waking up slowly in bed with my family followed by the big breakfast! Then I would love to take a drive and explore a new scenic spot listening to their laughter and photographing all of it!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… I honestly haven’t done very much travel for the sake of travel. When we’ve traveled it’s been because we’ve moved! The most memorable place we’ve lived was definitely the Caribbean. Living there changed so many aspects of my thinking.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… actually I’d really love to see the prairie! Weird, but between Sarah Plain and Tall and Little House on the Prairie I’d like to see if it’s as beautiful in real life as it is in my head.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… The diversity! I wear so many hats and get to do so many different things I’m never ever bored!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… I’d love to be a painter. I’d love to be good at it and spend my days communicating in that way.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… don’t sweat the small stuff! Pick those things that are really important to you, communicate that to your vendor team, and then trust them to make it a beautiful and wonderful experience!

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Every time I get in my car I feel inspired. I see the beautiful colours of nature around me and I feel fulfilled!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… somewhere with lots of space and probably the desert, preferably the high desert.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? I grew up on Star Wars so those are always ones I come back to. I also love Into Africa, Stranger than Fiction, and While You Were Sleeping.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… My husband is a really really good cook, so there have been many! But I do remember the first time he made me a steak. It was just a normal day, but finished with this extraordinary meal, just for me.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… my children!! I say that with the greatest amount of love!
