Sarah Jane Photography

Sarah Jane Photography exists to create photography that uses the subtleness of illuminating light to make soft and elegant art on film while capturing the natural and intimate connections between you and your loved ones.

Light. Art. Film. Connections.

These four things speak to my soul as an artist! I love the use of light and I am always striving to catch it just right. I also enjoy incorporating film photography into my shoots, which allows me to make more artistic portraits and photos that accentuate light, capture vibrant colours, but also give a soft and elegant look. My favourite art is the candid emotion you can tell people have for each other; I strive to always capture that most. It is important for me to truly serve my clients on their special day, making them feel comfortable and confident, and beautiful.

Sarah Jane Photography is based in Phoenix Arizona, but travels worldwide.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… If I had no obligations that day, I would take 2-3 friends, and my dogs, and go up north spending the day hiking around and exploring nature!!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… I have 2 if that’s ok.

I was able to go to England and France at 18 for a couple weeks my last year of high school. It was my first time traveling overseas without my parents and I felt I was able to truly experience these different places and cultures as my own individual young adult, and I love how it shaped me and catapulted my love for traveling.

Last fall I went to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to take photos for a non-profit. This was especially memorable because it was my first time in Africa, seeing how different culture and day to day life is, but also seeing and feeling so many similarities and connections with the people there. I remember flying away with more of a love for all humans, and how we really are all similar at our cores, and all worth the opportunity to make the best of our lives, wherever we are.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Italy.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… I truly love making art through photographs, making them as artistic as possible. I also truly love working with people, especially on one of their most important days on their lives.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD… love to be a dog trainer if I couldn’t be a photographer J

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… I know, most times, engaged couples are shocked with the investment it takes for weddings. But find out what your priorities are, and really invest in them. If photography is a big deal to you, please don’t skimp in that area. I have talked with couples who tried to go with a cheaper photographer and they REALLY regretted it after the fact.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I love the sun and light! Arizona is also gorgeous because of the mountains, cacti, and bougainvillea!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… South of Spain. I’ve never even been there, but it looks so beautiful and relaxing.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? The Village! I love the cinematography, the use of light throughout the movie, as well as the soundtrack.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… The first time I had escargot in Paris at 18 years old, I loved it!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… my 3 dogs: Jax, my 9 year old Aussie/Pit mix with 1 blue eye; Ayda, my 7 year old shepherd hound mix; and Bjorn, my 1 year old white husky/shepherd mix with blue eyes.
