Wonderstruck Events

Vancouver Planner

Wonderstruck Weddings & Events is a boutique company specializing in bespoke planning and fine art design for the discerning couple. We believe that wedding planning is more than staging an aesthetically beautiful event — it is taking cues from your personal style, crafting details from your love story, and creating a thoughtful experience for you and your guests. To us, a fine art wedding is timeless and sophisticated, with every modern element perfectly balanced with its classic counterpart. Every detail of your wedding is creatively assembled, and feels like an extension of your art piece — intentional and cohesive in conveying your overall story.

As a planner and designer, owner Ariel finds herself dotting the map, collecting inspiration from around the world. Those experiences, combined with a passion for bringing beautiful moments to fruition, forms the foundation behind Wonderstruck.

Based in Vancouver, Canada, we specialise in destination weddings and pre-wedding shoots in France, and will happily travel to any location worldwide.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… enjoying crepes at my favourite French cafe in Vancouver, baking something sweet, or binge-watching Netflix — likely all of the above!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… My honeymoon in 2017 was pretty incredible, my husband and I explored Croatia, Austria and Italy in depth for almost 6 weeks. However, the most memorable travel experience so far has to be our 2019 journey to the Sahara Desert — it was a 13 hour adventure by car through beautiful Morocco, and a surreal experience that I won’t soon forget!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… Kenya is at the top of my list — I would love to visit Giraffe Manor, and go on a safari! South Korea and Taiwan are also on my list in the near future, mainly for their cuisine.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… providing my couples with not just a service, but an experience. An experience that not only gives them confidence throughout and leading up to their wedding day, but also gifts them more time for each other during the engagement. Above all, it is such a privilege to be given trust in designing and planning their day — I take great pride in making sure every decision is intentional, and that every detail is a thoughtful extension of their love story.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… probably a journalist, or a foreign correspondent! The latter would enable me to travel for work, and I enjoy staying on top of current affairs, and having discourse.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…don’t stress over the small details, and do your best to enjoy your time as an engaged couple! You’ve hired a team of professionals for a reason, so trust them to do what they do best. Big picture, none of the technicalities will matter on the wedding day, as long as you celebrate with your loved ones around you, and cherish the moments that matter most.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… Vancouver is such a beautiful place to live — it’s a city surrounded by water and mountains, with endless adventures on our doorstep, and an abundance of diverse food culture.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… either Paris or Tokyo! I love Paris for it’s old world charm, and never-ending inspiration on every corner, but I also love Tokyo for the Japanese culture and food!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? I love a good foreign film, or psychological thriller; Jeux d’enfants (2003) is a favourite, brilliantly scripted with a hint of film noir. The Handmaiden (2016) is another favourite with beautiful visuals, and a devious storyline.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… Per Se in New York City, it was such an exquisite dining experience! My husband and I were there for nearly four hours, and closed down the restaurant at 1am, after Chef Keller signed our custom menus!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… Rubix, Rosie, and Ramen, which is one too many cats. What can I say — all three were rescues at birth, and I just have a soft spot for kittens!
