Hello lovers, I’m Mark Dohring of Bentinmarcs. I have a love for photographing weddings with a keen eye for genuine moments and the beauty in all. I use a range of film cameras to document your story in an artful, timeless and elegant style. My passion for life is strong, with a desire to travel often, meet and be surrounded by incredible creative people.

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… hanging out with my family. Starting with a morning cuddle in bed with my two gorgeous kids Alannah and Zane and a cup of coffee with my beautiful wife Billy. An adventure would soon follow somewhere local in the Adelaide Hills with space to roam for the kids and a glass of vino or craft beer with lunch. We usually end up with family gathering at our house for Sunday dinner on our outdoor patio where we can watch the kids play and enjoy cooking up a feast.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… when I asked Billy to spend the rest of her life with me. We were in Japan, snowboarding in Hokkaido just after Christmas Day. The engagement ring was in my pocket, ready for the perfect moment, but I was so utterly nervous I carried it around for several days. Finally we were taking the Prince Gondola back to the top of Higashiyama on blizzard day and just for a few moments, the clouds parted and we could see all the way down the valley. It was magical. So I whipped the ring out of my pocket and in that blue sky moment she said yes!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… definitely Sweden. My brother in law is Swedish and I would love to visit his hometown and see the country he left to move to Australia.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… real emotions. You just can’t fake the love people have for each other at weddings. And it doesn’t always need to be the bride and groom. Everyone loves the celebration and catching that reminiscent glint in Nanna’s eye or new young love birds squeezing hands at the “I do” makes me super happy.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE… living near an amazing surfing spot on the east coast and run an art gallery / coffee shop. I am drawn to the ocean, good people and great coffee.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE… to be true to yourselves and choose suppliers, vendors and items for your wedding that you love. Vendors have lots of great advice, they are experienced because they do weddings every weekend and know how things work on the day to keep everything stress free and looking fabulous.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… my family lives nearby and the beach, the hills and the city are just 15 minutes away. I’ve lived in other cities while I was in the film and TV industry and didn’t love the fast pace hustle and bustle of big metropolis’s. Adelaide suits me. It’s an easy place to get around, we have great food and amazing wine plus world class bridal fashionistas like Greta Kate and Paolo Sebastian.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… anywhere Billy and the kids are with me. Lake Como looks amazing but so too does the Les Trois Vallees in France.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? L’homme du train - Man on the Train. Although I can’t actually remember any of it because I fell asleep in the cinema and apparently snored through the entire French sub-titles. But I am a big fan of any film shot by cinematographer Conrad Hall.

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… sitting opposite an elegant lady in a fur coat who was eating alone in a fancy restaurant in France years ago. I noticed she was talking, but no one was dining with her, then later I realised she was feeding her little dog under the table.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… the smartest Kelpie in Australia. Rocky. He is my studio dog, personal trainer and trusty companion.
