Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT…

Sleeping in and then joining my husband for homemade pancakes and a nice cup of coffee. After that, laying on the couch with our pups and my husband reading, and having reality TV playing as background noise!

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS…

I studied abroad in college in Italy. Being American-Italian, it was so exciting for me to go and connect with a culture I felt so drawn to. I learned Italian prior to going, so when I was there I was able to talk to everyone, and really immersed myself. It was the first time I felt I didn’t want to stay still, and wanted to be around other cultures as much as possible!

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS…

Spain or Australia— iIt’s hard to pick just one or two, because I’d love to go to so many places and have a huge list of where I’d like to go!

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… the connections with people: I get to peek into their lives, and be a part of them if only for a fleeting time. I get to see their lives through the eyes of their friends on their wedding days, hear stories from their parents while getting ready, and so much more.

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE/DO… I would have been a doctor! I attended medical school for almost four years when I decided I wanted something different with more freedom! I also experienced a great loss and realised that I wanted to add more passion and artistry to my life, something that honors the vulnerabilities of this world while emphasizing the joys of it all.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…stay true to yourselves, block out the noise. It’s easy to get caught in trends, and wanting something just because others have it.

Other than that, also, enjoy your time together and this new part of life!! You only get this experience once.  Remember to celebrate together, and do everything together!!

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… I love when I’ve heard people say this — it’s the best place to live to escape where you are. Living in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, we’re 2 hours from NYC, 2 hours from DC, 4 hours from Pittsburgh, a 6 hour flight to London, and a 6-10 hour drive to the Carolina’s. Our area makes everything so accessible. For someone who doesn’t like feeling stuck, it’s a great place to be in the mix of everywhere else!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… in the continental US, Charleston or a southern coastal town. There’s something about being 15 minutes from the beach, but 15 minutes from a downtown bustling area that calls to my heart. I want to be in the mix, but also want that beach escape feeling!

Abroad— Italy, 100%. If you’ve been, there’s this way of life that is different. “La Bella vita,” one of my favorite idiomatic expressions that takes on many meanings. A beautiful life— or to live life beautifully. They take pride in dressing and presenting themselves well, but also, taking care of themselves internally as well. Just their philosophy of life, combined with the beauty of the country and of course the food— where else do you need to be??

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? The butterfly effect— it’s been one of my favorite movies since freshman year of high school! One thing my mom always said,  everything happens for a reason– whatever direction we choose is always the right path for us. The Butterfly Effect exemplifies that showing that even the smallest change in decisions can alter our whole life’s path. If I didn’t run late for class one day, I may have never met my husband at a restaurant we both worked at because that running late sent a cascade of different events to lead us to where we are today. It’s a great psychoanalytical film and really dives into the human condition and neuroscience!

MOST MEMORABLE MEAL I’VE EVER EATEN WAS… this is a hard one— I’d say not quite a full meal but when I was in Milan in October of 2023 we had aperitivo overlooking the duomo and that was pretty fantastic and scenic!

THE PETS I OWN ARE… we have two Australian shepherds, Kona (5) and Lani (3)! They are the most precious little angels, and devils simultaneously!!
