My Sun and Stars

Southern California Photographer

Hello, I’m Megan! Legacy preserver, fine art creator, wedding photographer... and completely-obsessed dog mom (send me an email with a picture of your fur baby attached and see how fast I respond!)

I’ve known that I wanted to be a photographer since the second grade, and I discovered weddings after originally planning on being a National Geographic photographer. I’m a wedding photographer who’s passionate about helping you preserve this monumental moment—the one where you’re standing on the cusp of forever, feeling over-the-moon excited and so very overwhelmed at the same time. Your wedding day is ultimately about the legacy you and your fiancé are creating together. As an added bonus, it’s an opportunity to celebrate alongside the friends and family members who have shaped your lives and brought you to this point...to each other. It’s my job (and joy!) to capture these connections on camera so that you can remain fully present on the day you say “I do” to forever.

Interview

IF I HAVE A FREE SUNDAY I WOULD SPEND IT… taking my dogs out, tending to my garden, reading, and sleeping far too much.

MY MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE WAS… taking the best nap of my entire life in the middle of Yosemite! Everything was just peaceful and quiet and welcoming. The grass was perfectly soft. And when we awoke there was a deer not 10 feet away.

THE COUNTRY I MOST WANT TO VISIT IS… New Zealand! Ever since I was young watching Lord of The Rings….

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS… the ability to create art that makes other people happy!

IF I DIDN’T DO THIS FOR A JOB I WOULD BE…. an interior designer. Or a scientist… I studied anthropology in college.

IF I COULD GIVE NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE IT WOULD BE…don’t do anything because you’re “supposed to.” Every path is unique. Figure out your most important values and base all your wedding planning around that. Is buying a home more important? Opt for a smaller wedding. Is having a baller party more important? Bring on the fireworks. There is no wrong way.

I LOVE WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE… easy access to Mexico! For our Mexico destination weddings we just walk across the border and fly domestic!

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT WOULD BE… on a flower farm, in a solid old house, on top of a hill with a view. It wouldn’t hurt if it were somewhere amazing like Italy, France, or Montana.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS? Life in a Day! It’s an emotional roller-coaster. Go watch it.

THE PETS I OWN ARE… Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with my dogs! We have two rescue pups- Nigel and Fox. They’re both a little simple, but will do ANYTHING for food. They favour falling asleep on my computer and love to paw at my hand while I’m typing, which can make having them around while I’m editing a little challenging. But it’s worth it. So, so worth it.
