After a six year long distance relationship this gorgeous duo began a whirlwind of wedding planning whilst still living in different countries. We saw our wedding as being an intimate event that was a reflection of us as a couple. To balance my fianc 's rugged, organic tastes and my penchant for beautiful, feminine things, we chose an ethereal, rustic theme for our day. We began by deciding on a barn venue, envisioning the wooden building and natural surroundings as a perfect backdrop for our whimsical, romantic affair. We did not want a standard color scheme and instead chose to use multiple, soft colors and a more personal, eclectic array of decor centered around the use of vintage and DIY pieces, wood, lace, flowers, brass, and candles.

MEGAN ROBINSON captured all the beauty of the day, which involved so many touches from the bride & groom and their families. As a nod to their favourite meal they served up tacos, and to enhance the fun, family-oriented atmosphere they had popcorn and lemonade stands alongside the adult drinks' during their cocktail hour and a s'mores station to entertain the kids in between the dinner and dancing. Sounds like a fun wedding to have been a guest at! For adults and children alike!

ANY DIY ELEMENTS? All this said, I had so much fun being a DIY bride! I loved planning and styling the day, putting together homemade strawberry jam as favors, painting the wooden and tin signs, and creating the gold animal place cards, milk bottle aisle decor, and seating chart. My fianc found and cut all the wood for free, along with snagging the metal jugs we used for some of the center pieces. I also put together a wooden frame to display the Polaroid's of our guests at the sign-in table and a wooden and ribbon backdrop for our cake station, both using cuttings from the trees in our yard.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Since we saw a main decor item as flowers and greenery, we purchased these through wholesale companies and arranged them ourselves to maximize our budget. We ended up with an assortment of 750 flowers spilling over our tables, cake, stations, and ceremony space, and made into lavish bouquets and delicate boutonnieres and corsages. It turned out better than I could have imagined.

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: To enhance the fun, family-oriented atmosphere, we had popcorn and lemonade stands along with our wine and beer bar during our cocktail hour, and a s'mores station to entertain the kids between dinner and dancing. We attempted to personalize everything, from the decor to the small, intimate guest list to the customized playlist, and we had the best time doing it all as a couple.

WHAT ADVISE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?The only reason we were able to enjoy every moment of the day and avoid all stress was by hiring a day-of coordinator. She coordinated the whole event from the rehearsal to the clean-up, took care of all the last minute styling details, and directed all of our amazing vendors. Our favourite vendor was one that took priority in hiring right from the beginning our photographer! We are thrilled to have amazing, unique photos that document our love and the memories of our day.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Altogether, the day felt entirely exclusive to us, we focused on the importance of our vows and our family and friends that surrounded us, and it was a beautiful start to our lifelong love letter.
