After an extremely romantic proposal (read below for details) Elna & Hendrik went about planning their wedding in Stellenbosch where their romance had begun as students. Offering them the most incredible views of the surrounding winelands, they took advantage of the beautiful landscapes as you can see in these gorgeous photos by JENNI ELIZABETH PHOTOGRAPHY.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Hendrik knows me so well and combined my favourite things all into one jam-packed day. We started the day off at Uva Mira Wine Estate in Stellenbosch - he took me back where it all started. Uva Mira is a boutique winery at with amazing views of Stellenbosch and surrounds. We had a private tour of the cellar where after they spoiled us with a wonderful wine tasting. It was a mini fairy-tale with white tulips � my favourite � all around the cellar and tons of candles. After our wonderful morning at Uva Mira we moved on to Clifton. Hendrik knew that my favourite place on earth is the ocean. We had bubbles on the beach, where after he took me to the most beautiful spot in Cape Town, Cape View Clifton. This boutique hotel has the most incredible views of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They had the deck made up with my favourite flowers, orchids and tulips. All white. Views stretched out on all sides of us, and a private chef. The spoils continued. We spend the afternoon on the deck and as the sun started to set over Cape Town and Clifton, Hendrik bent down on one knee and popped the question. A true fairly-tale as he spoiled me with my most favourite things in the world and I got engaged to my most favourite person in the world.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: My dream dress was made by Kluk & CGDT in Cape Town. Two wonderful designers that knows how to create ideas into a wonderful masterpiece, made my dress. There was no question as to who would make my dress as I was already in love with these two designers.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: I absolutely LOVE flowers and would always have a fresh pot of flowers in my house. We wanted to create a romantic, yet elegant feel at our wedding using flowers. Okasie did a wonderful job in creating and using special flowers to complement our ideas. Our flowers arrangements incorporated an organic feel (using greens), along with a romantic, soft, edgy yet elegant feel, using all different types of white flowers and raspberry colours.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our most memorable moment would definitely be where we caught a glimpse of each other, me waiting outside the church with my dad ready to walk down the aisle and Hendrik waiting in front of the altar. That first glimpse and the feeling that followed - that made it real. That glimpse said - you are finally marrying the man of your dreams.
